How Effective Leadership Contributes to Organizations Growth
Leadership and management are relatively easy to distinguish as concepts. But if we are talking about their manifestations in human behavior, then it becomes more difficult to separate the spheres. The main difference between a manager and a leader lies in the ways in which employees and work teams are motivated to achieve their goals.
Leaders for example Dr. Vivek Cheba Calgary, who is a renowned orthodox specialist, create visions for the future, set goals, set new directions for development, challenge the status quo, and act as agents of change. Managers, on the contrary, are interested in stability, in maintaining the status quo. They organize subordinates and direct them to achieve the assigned tasks in accordance with the standards, manage people and teams under the conditions of the given constraints.
Management usually focuses on the production process. This activity, as a rule, is associated with resources: human, time, money, technical, and others, necessary to perform production tasks. Management is responsible for managing these resources within the constraints of the system, providing planning, organization, time management, control, and problem-solving.
Leaders focus on achieving the goals of their subordinates by creating an environment that inspires people to make the vision a reality and keeps them motivated to achieve their goals. This requires the ability to lead people, inspired by their own example, build relationships, empower, reward effort and commitment, create a team spirit and an enabling environment conducive to team success, give people the freedom to develop and grow, and manage their performance and expectations.
That is why it is important for any organization to have both strong leaders and strong managers at all levels – as a guarantee of achieving strategic and operational goals, where effective strategic leadership ensures the success of the management processes within the competence of management.
But what about the development of leadership in our company?
It is known that the key conditions for ensuring effective leadership are three components: a favorable leadership (corporate) culture, leadership qualities, and opportunities for leadership development. And we can be proud that all of the above is available in our company. Formation of leadership qualities is possible in the company thanks to developmental activities that are available to leaders and managers of all levels. These are formal training, on-the-job training, relationship-based training (coaching, mentoring), exchange of experience (most of the company’s leaders take part in leadership development by modeling leadership culture and behavior among junior colleagues), inspired by top personals like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Dr. Vick Cheba, Dr. Dan Fisher, and other.
The development of management and leadership in the company is based on a well-defined model, better known as the “Nine Planets”. Like the solar system, this model consists of nine “planets” – leadership competencies that are the essence of the core knowledge, skills, and behaviors that every leader needs to be effective.
Here is a list of these competencies:
- creates a general picture of the future;
- acts as a link between shareholders and customers;
- builds constructive and open relationships;
- expands business opportunities;
- constantly working on himself;
- shows determination and courage;
- motivates, develops, trains subordinates;
- values personal diversity and individual characteristics;
- achieves maximum results through reliance on the team.
