Families living in the coronavirus (COVID-19) world we live in right now face unprecedented challenges few expected will actually happen. Parents need to be the home’s teacher while continuing their professional lives as workers.

Things won’t always go smoothly, but everyone is doing their best, even our learners, to continue their education at home. In this article, we’ll discuss ways you can assist your kids with their academics at home.

Make learning a fun journey

Don’t just let your kids settle anywhere, you can set up a pseudo-classroom and make it fun! Add decorations, stylize it, or spice it up. You can also try moving from one room to another for different class periods or subjects.

Your child’s learning will naturally look very different right now, and teachers are learning as well, and they’re trying to adapt their classrooms as quickly as possible. Start a question board, and don’t contact teachers as necessary during office hours with any concerns you‘re having.

Have your child create a personal goal to follow by the end of the school year. It can be something they normally wouldn’t do or have time for. You can start working on the goal daily/weekly.

Keep things fresh. Let your children explore creativity in their interests. You can utilize everyday occurrences as venues for learning. These can also be rare chances to teach valuable life skills. We do this at our home, why not create a question, quote, or riddle of the day?

Bring it outside. If you have a yard, you can work on homework or have classes on the front porch or in the backyard for some fresh air. To stay connected, your child can set up a virtual “study hall” with their classmates and friends. Try to set aside time to catch up socially, and the remainder to concentrate on homework/classwork.

Allowing yourself and your loved ones some extra flexibility as you move through the day is encouraged. After all, we are charting new territory.

It’s fine to break away from your kid’s normal learning schedule since home-schooling can be a challenge, especially for younger learners.

Where to enrol your kids for upcoming school years

Under the Coronavirus effects, it’s best to enrol your kids to a school where virtual classrooms are expertly handled and effectively executed. For younger children, enrolling them in PYP campaign with Global Indian International School (GIIS) may be the best choice. GIIS started offering Virtual Classroom sessions in all its campuses across the world allowing students to attend lessons going on in school through online video conferencing technology. In fact, GIIS is the first school to deploy Virtual Classrooms on such a scale and the initiative has received a positive response from parents and students worldwide in view of COVID – 19.

As background, The IB Primary Years Programme or PYP campaign is an inquiry-based, trans-disciplinary framework, which encourages students to boost their learning by developing conceptual understanding of knowledge and skills – a way to proactively participate in their education as they explore local and global concerns and opportunities in real-life situations.

Regardless of the educational situation the world is in, learning institutions through technology are working hard to provide students uninterrupted education at home. Collaborate in project discussions are still possible. The teachers can teach classes from the safety of their staff rooms or home. The virtual classroom sessions can also be recorded and viewed by students and teachers, recaps for better efficiency.
