Of all the things that has become tremendously important in today’s tech filled world, ensuring that your browsing data remains safe and that your privacy remains protected while on the internet has become a huge and an important factor. This has become even more true during the times of a global pandemic, namely, the coronavirus. Since a lot of people are waking up to the importance of ensuring that their internet privacy remains protected, the use of VPNs or Virtual Protocol Networks during this time has also burgeoned exponentially.

One of the factors that seems to be fueling this increase in the use of VPNs seems to be a lockdown, which has necessitated an easy and an effective method for people to work from home, while also ensuring that their company data remains safe – but another important aspect that employees are concerned about is keeping their private browsing habits and their company work separate, especially if they are using the same machine (laptop/computer) for both. This can be done without too much effort (such as setting up another profile) through the use of a VPN making it tremendously popular recently. Given the sudden increase in demand, a lot of VPN providers are actually increasing the number of servers that they have to meet consumer needs effectively.

It is not just for work, but people are using VPNs for other purposes as well, such as being able to access Netflix from other countries where it is available, for being able to download stuff, etc. – presumably due to the larger amount of free time that they have currently. It must, however, be kept in mind that increased VPN usage can also open the user up to some risks, such as data theft or malware issues which malicious programs have piggybacked on VPNs to introduce. If you plan to use a VPN service, ensure that you use a reputable one to make sure you are safe.
